Historical Note: James S. Coleman (b. Feb. 23, 1827) was a Landmark successionist who denied the validity of all non-Baptist denominations.  Coleman edited the Green River Baptist (Hartford, KY) during the Civil War and helped to save the Western Recorder from going out of existence after the war.  In the course of his career, he served as pastor of numerous small Kentucky Baptist churches and organized the Baptist Church at Madisonville in 1870.
